If you're looking to remove an Edelbrock carburetor, there are a few things that you'll need to do first. First, remove the heat insulator gasket. This is located on the top of the carburetor and will need to be pried off with a flathead screwdriver or something similar. Once this is done, the next step is to remove the top vent hose and plug the carb opening. After this, you can lift off the top of the carburetor with the long bolts that are holding it in place. Once you have done this, you can remove all the screws from the bottom of the carburetor and then lift it out of the vehicle.

Edelbrock heat insulator gasket removal is relatively straightforward and shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to complete. However, you will need to make sure that your vehicle has a big enough hole for the stock gas tank to fit into once the carb is removed as the hole on the bottom of the carb will need to be replaced once it is removed. This can be somewhat time-consuming depending on how large of a hole you have in your tank already.

Most vehicles have a fuel filler neck that is around 3 inches in diameter. Therefore, if your stock tank has a smaller diameter than that you will need to make the hole larger to accommodate the tank. This can be done by cutting a larger hole in the side of the tank or removing the entire bottom of the tank and making a new bottom out of sheet metal.

If the tank does not have a large enough hole to begin with, you can use a mechanical punch to punch a larger hole in the bottom of the tank and then use a metal file to smooth it out and make it round so that it will fit properly inside the car when the hole has been enlarged.

Remove the bolts from the bottom that holds the body of the carb onto the intake runner. Use a wrench to loosen these bolts and remove the body off of the intake runner.
